‘Life is a journey to be experienced not a problem to be solved’ Winnie the Pooh…

The other day I was babysitting for my nephew and we went to singing group together. It was the first time I experienced being a mum. Considering other mums are the only other people that understand what it is like to be a mum, I could not believe the lonely, judgmental and unsupportive community I was surrounded by. This got me thinking…

We all decide to go on different journeys, we have different interests, passions, pet peeves and motivations. Whether we like it or not we live in a society of being scared to share our vulnerabilities. We all live in this world particularly on social media that we portray ourselves to be something we are not – even if it’s subconscious. Guess what? We are not all perfect, we don’t always succeed, we don’t always have confidence and we don’t always feel happy.

We all set ourselves goals whether it’s relating to fitness or not. It could be work, family or  health related, however how well do we adhere to these goals and how much do we beat ourselves up if we don’t?

We are our own worst enemies, in reality we are so cruel to ourselves. Just thinking about why I wanted to start training, it makes me realise. Long story short, I started training because when I looked at pictures I wasn’t happy with what I saw.  This continues to be one of my motivations for training; okay great, I will get stronger and fitter however to me they are bonuses to my psychological development.

We all have our reasons, they don’t need to be public, I just want you to remember them throughout your journey and never forget as that will keep you going. However, ONE thing I do want you to think about is this…

Would you talk to your best friend the way you talk to yourself? Would you direct your thoughts about yourself to your best friend?

Now, unless you are an arsehole it is just not going to happen. So why do you deserve to be in the firing line of those thoughts, even if they do come from your own mind, why does that make it any better?

This is where my second motivation for training comes in. I want to learn as much as possible to be able to help as many people as possible. I want people to feel good naked, I want people to look in the mirror and feel confident, happy, and love themselves. I want people to feel healthy and empowered. Don’t confuse this as arrogance though, you have to be kind and look after yourself to be the best version of yourself to you and then to others around you.

It breaks my heart to see when people have such low self esteem, low confidence, feeling lost, the list goes on. However it also overloads and fills my heart when I see those hurdles big and small continued to get jumped over. One of the best feelings for me whatever the remit is having someone stand back and say,

“I am proud of myself”

I want to create a network and build a community where anyone can comfortably share their vulnerabilities and thoughts and instead of sitting silently people actually say ‘do you know what, I feel the same’. This means me too, after all I am on a journey right with you babes. That most importantly leads onto support. However do not get me wrong it’s not about revelling in negativity, I try and stick to the glass being half full as much as I can. It is about EMPOWERING yourself and those around you. It is about recognising and celebrating those successes whether they are yours or someone else’s. It is about building together and overcoming those fears.

Have your goals laid out, keep them in your mind, keep referring back to them. However do not forget that success doesn’t always come as a huge mountain. Every bit of progress however big or small is success. As we continue to grow and develop the end goal will continually change. Your determination for new successes will continue to evolve, so don’t forget to camp out sometimes and take note of how far you have already come. Equally if you have a set back – don’t worry we all do! You are HUMAN. Have a good sleep and remember tomorrow is a new day.
