So here we are after officially being in lockdown for 2 weeks, going into 3. Weird atmospheres shift in purpose, motivation altered while remembering and reintroducing ourselves to those in our house.

While getting out for my daily walk or run it has got me thinking this whole situation over and over, and well over again.

When talking to potential clients I always ask what their top 3 priorities are and health is rarely within the top 3. Yet here we are in global pandemic and only now are the masses realising the importance of their own health and to never take anything or anyone for granted.

Reality is, it isn’t surprising that health isn’t top of everyone’s list because the level overwhelming consumption of stimulus day in and day out is nuts. We wake up, rush from A to B, why would you have time to think about your health, you feel okay, you carry on, ( I mean that’s still happening now with people ignoring the situation STAY INSIDE).

Anyway, society forces us to focus on a magnitude of things from social media, what to cook for dinner (before we’ve even had breakfast), has Karen sent that email to your client, who’s been kicked out of I’m a Celeb, or in more recent times I can’t believe there is still no toilet roll and have you seen this funny TikTok video?

When was the last time you had a proper think about how you felt, how your body feels, how do you look, how do you move? Honestly, is your health something you truly work on? Talking both physically and mentally here.

It goes way beyond turning up to the gym for a class or session or home workout, although that is a bloody good start and habit to be in.

It’s about monitoring your sleep, stress, feeding your soul with things you love and enjoy, having belly laughs, improving and strengthening your mental health, dancing, moving, eating delicious, freshly prepared meals filled with nutrients and vitamins to fuel your body as best you can, just to name a few.

Now is the time to really think about that, yes, I appreciate you have families, some are trying to work while with children having to be home schooled, but the one thing you have is control and right now consistency with a routine!!

For the first time in however many days, months maybe even years you have time. You don’t have to travel, you don’t have to commute, you don’t have to rush around. You can spend that time in an evening to prepare meals, try and learn new recipes, even plan your weekly recipes. Create a new routine that swaps your commute with a 30-minute workout 3, 4 or even 5 times a week. Create a new routine that swaps after school club with family baking or cooking. Reconnect with your families, fuel your body with fresh, single ingredient foods, pamper yourself, read that book you keep meaning to read, explore fun activities to do with your children, be inspired and get creative.

Now is the time to focus on you, your family and become the healthiest versions of yourselves that you possibly can be.

Everyone goes through different breakthroughs both mentally and physically which I am extremely grateful for everyday that this is my work (can you call it work when it doesn’t feel like it?!).

It’s not just about a number on a scale, weight and reps within a set or how many calories your Fitbit is saying the last workout burned. As amazing as those achievements are, it’s about looking at a picture of yourself or seeing yourself in the mirror and feeling proud of how you look, feel comfortable in your mind and skin. It’s about feeling confident, happy and secure about where you are.

This is where I have the best job ever because I get to see you believing me when I say “look how amazing you are, look how far you have come, listen to how you describe yourself, your feelings and life itself”.

This isn’t just stay inside to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This is stay inside and work on you and your HEALTH.

The crazy whirlwind of life has temporarily slowed, accept we can’t control this and reflect and reconnect.

We can’t control what is happening outside, we can’t control the fact that we HAVE to stay inside but we can control what happens inside our 4 walls.
